Day 1 - Join the tour in Auckland

Discover back road places, country hospitality and nature in the wild. Explore the Coromandel Peninsula and dig a hot pool in the sand. Experience Maori culture in Rotorua. Enjoy private lunches at Lake Tarawera, and in a mid-Canterbury farmhouse. Visit Napier and Wellington. Cruise across Cook Strait. Stay on the spectacular Kaikoura Coast and in the heart of the alps at Aoraki/Mt Cook. Drive to Milford Sound to cruise by Mitre Peak and return to Queenstown on a spectacular flight over the Southern Alps.

Your adventure starts in Auckland

Your adventure begins with our Karangahake Gorge walk that combines dramatic river scenery, native bush and relics of early goldmines. At a Kiwifruit orchard, you hear all about this famous fruit. Your private cruise on a 53ft catamaran on Lake Rotoiti is a special highlight, calling into secluded bays and hot pools reached only by water.

Day 2 - Explore Rotorua

There’s time to enjoy one of Rotorua’s unique optional activities or simply wander beside Lake Rotorua near your hotel. Drive out to beautiful Lake Tarawera for lunch with the Walmsley family who have many stories to tell of their Maori and Pakeha (European) history in this region once famous for the Pink and White Terraces.

Day 3 - Visit the geothermal pools in Rotorua

Day 4 - Take time to explore the countries capital

Day 5 - Time today for activities or tours

Day 6 - Take the ferry south to Nelson

Day 7 - Walk in the tranquil Abel Tasman

At Kaiteriteri Beach meet a local guide and cruise by catamaran and walk, as much or as little as you choose, along the stunning Abel Tasman coastline of islands, sheltered bays, estuaries and golden, sandy beaches. There’s time to relax on the beach with a picnic lunch and take a swim before returning to Nelson.

Day 8 - Seal spotting in Kaikoura

The road hugs the spectacular coastline between the Pacific Ocean and the Kaikoura Ranges. Your afternoon is free to see Kaikoura’s bountiful marine life, the result of the ocean canyon close offshore. Optional excursions include whale watching cruises, flights and kayaking at sunset. You'll stay not far from the seal colony at The White Morph.
