Day 1: Welcome to Auckland

‘Haere Mai’ Welcome to New Zealand. A Kirra Tours representative will greet you at the airport with transport waiting to take you to your downtown city hotel. Tonight, enjoy welcome drinks as you get to know your fellow travellers.
Welcome to Auckland, transfer to hotel
On arrival into Auckland a representative of Kirra Tours will meet you from your flight and a transfer will deliver you to your hotel accommodation. Tonight, enjoy a welcome drinks reception with your fellow travellers.

Nestled in the heart of Auckland's CBD, Rydges Auckland offers an ideal location. The hotel is a short stroll from business and retail districts, the Casino, the America's Cup Viaduct Village and superb waterfront restaurants.
Day 2: Auckland to the Coromandel

Auckland to Pauanui
Leaving the city behind, we travel southeast to the Coromandel Peninsula, a rugged area fringed with dozens of excellent beaches and a place where many Kiwis choose to escape the hustle and hype of city life. We arrive at Pauanui Beach in the early afternoon, allowing you time for a stroll on the pristine white sand beach or through the surrounding native bush. The accommodation also has bikes for hire if you fancy peddling around before dinner.

Day 3: Journey into the secluded shores of Lake Okatania

Pauanui to Lake Okatania
Today takes us to the popular beach resort area of Mt Maunganui and through the Bay of Plenty region to the secluded wilderness on the shores of Lake Okataina. We will embark on a scenic cruise around the lake to learn more about the area’s history, including a visit to a former Maori pā site. Back at the lodge, there are many beautiful walks available to take in the protected native forestland that surrounds the lake.

Situated on the shores of Lake Okataina, and surrounded by native bush, Lakes Lodge Okataina enjoys almost total seclusion, as the only habitation on the edge of the lake.

Day 4: Rotorua sightseeing

Sightseeing in Rotorua
We arrive in Rotorua, the North Island’s tourist hub renowned for its rich Maori culture and bubbling geothermal activity. You have the day free to explore this fascinating city full of natural hot springs and surrounded by beautiful forests and lakes. Your Coach Captain can assist with booking any optional activities you would like to do. This evening, you’ll be treated to a traditionally prepared Maori hangi (feast) followed by an enthralling cultural performance of Maori songs, chants and dance, including the stirring haka.

Day 5: Rotorua to Taupo to Napier

Rotorua to Napier
Start your day with a walk through the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, famous for its geysers, boiling mud pools and steaming craters. Next, a scenic jet boat ride will take you along the mighty Waikato River to a magnificent thermal reserve featuring silica terraces. We make a stop to view the mighty Huka Falls on our way to Lake Taupo, the largest lake in New Zealand. Continue on to Napier, often regarded as the world’s Art Deco capital for its famous historical architecture.

Day 6: Napier to Wellington

Journey from Napier to the capital city of Wellington
Orchards and vineyards give way to farmland as you travel into the rural heartland of the Wairarapa region. You travel south over the Rimutaka ranges into the Capital city, Wellington. A city tour includes the summit of Mount Victoria for views over the city and its harbour, the Houses of Parliament and distinctive 'Beehive', Wellington Cathedral, the central city and business area and Oriental Bay. Also explore the city yourself. Don't miss Te Papa, the ''Museum of New Zealand" or take a ride on the famous Cable Car.
