Stray JourneysStray Journeys 7 Day Beetham Tour (Summer, October-April)

The Beetham tour is named after George Beetham, who first explored Mount Ruapehu in 1878. He ascended the summit and crossed the large southern glacier as well as studying and recording the existence of the hot lake in the great ice plateau. On this tour you'll have the chance to hike volcanic craters, discover the emerald and blue crater lakes of Tongaririo National Park, and traverse Mount Doom (Mt Ngauruhoe). Travel along the Thermal Explorer Highway and relax on Hot Water Beach, see the bubbling mud pools of Rotorua and visit Lake Taupo, a crate lake caused by the biggest volcanic eruption New Zealand has ever seen.
