Explore New Zealand without getting behind the wheel. Whether you prefer the freedom of a self-guided journey, the ease of a guided tour or the experience of travelling by coach and rail, there’s a travel style to suit you.

Train and coach tours combine New Zealand’s scenic rail journeys with guided touring by coach. They’re a lovely choice if you want to sit back for the big rail moments, then continue exploring by coach with accommodation, transfers and sightseeing arranged. Group sizes range from 20 to 35 travellers, depending on the tour. These tours suit travellers who want structure, comfort and a different view of New Zealand, especially through regions where the railway gives you scenery you wouldn’t see as easily by road.
Guided coach tours are a straightforward, comfortable way to see New Zealand with the main details taken care of. These tours have fixed departure dates, set routes and a tour director, guide or coach captain to keep each day running smoothly. Group sizes range from 25 to 48 travellers, depending on the operator. Accommodation, transport, sightseeing and some meals are included, although exact inclusions vary by tour. If you want to arrive early, stay longer after the tour, or add time in Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown or another region, we can help arrange those extra days around the fixed itinerary.

Self-guided coach tours are ideal if you want a car-free New Zealand holiday with more flexibility than a fully guided group tour. Your transport, accommodation and core itinerary are arranged in advance, but you travel more independently day-to-day. This style works well for travellers who want to adjust the route, travel dates, accommodation level, pace or inclusions. You can enjoy the scenery without checking the map, watching the road signs or working out where to park at the end of a long day.

Ultimate NZ Explorer TourSmall group tours offer the comfort of an organised itinerary with a more personal feel. Group sizes range from 12 to 24 travellers, depending on the operator, so the experience can feel more connected than a larger coach holiday. You’ll still have set travel dates and a planned route, but with a smaller group. This is a great option if you like the idea of travelling with others, but don’t want to feel lost in a large crowd.
