New Zealand Coach Tours does not charge an additional fee for paying by credit card. Your own bank or card provider may still charge foreign currency, conversion or international transaction fees, especially if your card is issued outside New Zealand or you pay in another currency.
This means there are two separate things to check: the tour company’s credit card fee, and any charges applied by your own bank or card provider. New Zealand Coach Tours does not add a credit card surcharge, but your card issuer controls its own overseas payment fees and exchange rates.
Credit card fees and bank charges
If your tour is priced in New Zealand dollars and you pay with an overseas credit card, your bank may treat the payment as a foreign currency transaction. Depending on your card, this can involve a currency conversion fee, an international transaction fee, or both.
Some banks offer cards with no foreign exchange fees, while others charge a percentage on overseas purchases. It’s worth checking before making a large payment, as the difference can be noticeable on a full tour balance.
Paying in New Zealand dollars or another currency
Tours are commonly priced in New Zealand dollars. If you pay in NZD using an overseas card, your card provider usually converts the payment into your home currency using its own rate.
In some cases, you may have the option to pay in another currency. This can reduce foreign currency fees for some travellers, but the exchange rate still matters. Compare the final amount, not just the payment method.
What to check before paying
Before paying your deposit or balance, check the currency on your invoice, the card you plan to use, and any foreign transaction fees charged by your bank. If you’re unsure, contact your card provider before payment.
For couples or groups using different cards, each person’s bank may apply different fees or exchange rates. Keep payment receipts and make sure each payment is matched to the correct booking reference.
